Mr. Dekker received a degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada).

He joined the GENI organization in 1993 and currently is their IT Director. He speaks occasionally about the GENI Initiative and writes on specific technical projects (e.g. GENI WMS Server, The GENI Model) ( GENI.org ).

Mr Dekker continued this Role in IT and Customer Support when GENI created the World Resources Simulation Center, or SIMcenter ( WRSC.org ), from 2010 until the beginning of the great COVID epidemic, when the SIMcenter was closed.

Before GENI, he worked for nine years as an IT Analyst, Cost Accountant, and Assembly Language Programmer with UNISYS (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), and one year as IT analyst with the Board of Education of the City of York (Toronto, Ontario, Canada).

He is a principal of Green Star Standard, a Life Cycle Assessment consultancy ( GreenStarStandard.com ), initially centered in San Diego. He served on the Board for the Sustainability Alliance of Southern California, where he advocated sustainable community policies. He participated on the Energy and Water Committee and Green Products Committee of the San Diego Regional Sustainability Partnership.

Mr. Dekker is a former member of the IEEE and the San Diego Chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants.
